Mid-century Acrylic Wall Hanging Lenscope by Karl Gerstner Swiss, 1960s
About the Item
Mid-century Acrylic Wall Hanging, titled "Lenscope" by Karl Gerstner Swiss, 1960s designed by Karl Gerstner for Deposito Galleria. Solid acrylic square with circular detail to the centre, fabric hanging strap. Label to the piece reads Edde Edizioni del Deposito Boccadasse Genoa. One of a run of 100 produced, the number of this one is illegible on the label.
In good over all condition, minimal signs of wear. Retains the original strap although this has been shortened at some point.
Can be hung from ceiling in large open space or in front of a window.
Measures: 35cm x 35cm x 3.5cm deep

Karl Gerstner
The Swiss-born artist (Basel, 1930) Karl Gerstner is known for his incorporation of the International Typographic Style. This style championed geometric shape, asymmetry, negative space and the lack of purely decorative elements.
Gerstner worked in the advertising industry and founded one of Switzerland’s most prosperous agencies, Gerstner + Kutter, in 1959. The agency grew to house offices in many major European cities. Upon exiting the advertising business, Gerstner worked in publishing and as an independent consultant. His art reflects his work in these graphic design-focused industries.
