Unusual silver cocktail shaker

About the Item

Antique novelty silver cocktail shaker in the form of an early 17th century tankard, fitted with a hinged cover and a cut-out thumbpiece. The interior is fitted with a twist and lift-off cover that features a clever opening and closing swivel mechanism reveals or closes the filter when twisted between pouring or shaking the cocktail. The body is hand engraved with a decorative feathered shield. Crichton & Co was the trading name used in the US for the English silversmithing firm, Crichton Brothers. This interesting silver cocktail shaker has a capacity of two US pints. Weight 1148 g (36.91 troy ozs)
