Pair of 19th Century Polychrome Wooden Indian Doors with Genre Scenes
About the Item
A pair of heavy wooden polychrome doors, depicting genre scenes of a man and woman on each panel, surrounded by foliate decoration, with ebonized backs, and five supports slats on each door. The doors have retained some of their original iron hardware. Indian in origin, dating the 19th century, in good overall condition, with some shrinkage cracks, edge losses, and expected wear from age and use. Wires have been added to each door for mounting as wall decorations. Dimensions: Each door measures approximately 61.5 in H x 16 in W x 3 in D.
