Victorian Enamel Emerald Gold Drippy Earrings

About the Item

An absolutely gorgeous pair of drippy emerald earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) period! Made of 18kt yellow gold (indicating English origin), these incredible earrings are particularly long and have a magnificent design. Each earring begins with a simple earring wire attached to a decorative topper. A delicate emerald stone is prong set within a raised flower-shaped gold setting. Hanging below the surmount is an ornate open wirework link, complete with decorative cutouts, swirled gold detail, delicate gold balls on the outside, and black enamel accents. Dangling freely at the bottom of each earring are five long gold bar links, which give the design a "drippy" and elegant appearance. Each bar link is set with a delicate emerald stone in the middle and finished off with a diamond shaped gold and enamel link at the end. The emeralds all display an intense vivid green color that looks very striking against the yellow gold setting, while the black enamel accents add a perfect touch. Stamped on the gold earring wires is "750" and a small maker's mark. A simply marvelous pair of Victorian earrings, they are comfortable and lightweight, and have wonderful movement when worn! They would make a very special addition to any fine jewelry collection. Measurements: Each earring hangs approximately 2 5/8" long at the longest point, measures slightly more than 1/2" across at the widest point, and has a depth of 3/8".

Wear consistent with age and use. The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or enamel, and all of the emerald stones are intact. The earring wires are secure and in good working condition.
