14 Karat Yellow Gold 1963 Pekka Anttila Kruunu-Koru Oy Onyx Stones Bracelet Made year 1963. Lapponia Jewelry's co-founder, 1963. Maximum inside diameter 6 cm. Unused store stock. Weight 12 g. History Pekka Anttila and Kruunukoru Oy. In 1960, Pekka Anttila founded his own business name on Unioninkatu in Helsinki. Initially, the raw material had to be procured, at which point his six siblings guaranteed a loan to purchase the first 1,500 gram of gold. In 1953, he had completed an inspection stamping examination, on the basis of which he registered slightly overlapping letters PWA in his name stamp. His company focused on making simple smooth bracelets and Bismarck chains. However, the jewelry produced was of excellent quality and the company gained a solid customer base. The market in the industry consisted mostly of cheap imported jewelery, and Anttila wanted to find a market for his personal and individual products. Because the competition was fierce, Anttila decided to stand out from the conservative selection and create something new and original. He thought more personality was needed for the international market. In 1963, he had Björn Weckström as a partner, with whom he had studied at the Goldsmith School at the same time. Weckström had made the first so-called Lapland jewelery in 1961, when he was asked to design and make jewelery from a bottle of Lemmenjoki gold nuggets. Pekka Anttila. Anttila bought gold to make jewelry by selling his property. He tried many solutions with Weckström, which resulted in the jewelery series Lapland Jewelry and Space Silver. The development even caused so much loss that there were only 400 grams per kilogram of gold after the experiments. Anttila stated that it became expensive, but the lost 600 grams came back as a capital gain. After the expansion of operations, the company was transformed into a limited liability company in 1963, which became Kruunu-Koru Oy. Pekka Anttila's wife Tuovi Anttila performed the duties of Executive Vice President and Human Resources. Weckström noticed that Lapland gold was characterized by a reddish hue, which was called Lapponia. In 1965, Anttila attracted Weckström to participate in the Rio de Janeiro International Design Competition. The Gold Pendant, a flower pendant designed by Weckström, won a competition to celebrate Rio's Janeiro's 400th anniversary.
