Art Nouveau Flower Motif Repousse Hinged Bangle Bracelet

About the Item

A gorgeous bangle bracelet from the Art Nouveau (ca1890) era! This decorative piece is crafted in 12kt yellow gold, and includes rose gold accents for a subtle mixed metals appearance. Covering the surface of the bangle is a carved floral motif, complete with flowing leaves and budding flowers. A row of angled dashes and grooves lines the inside, forming a continuous pattern. The repousse detail provides wonderful depth and texture to the overall design! At the side of the bangle is a hinge and push clasp, which is disguised discreetly. A safety latch on the side provides additional security when worn. The tongue of the clasp is marked with a "K12" gold purity mark on the top, and the maker's hallmarked initial "F" on the underside. A gorgeous everyday piece, it would look equally striking whether worn alone or stacked with other complimentary bracelets! The inside of the bracelet (where a wrist would rest) measures approximately 2 1/2" wide and 2 1/4" tall, and would fit nicely on a medium/average sized wrist. The surface of the bracelet measures about 3/8" wide and thick. The overall condition of the bracelet is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting. The hinge and clasp fasten securely and remain in good working condition. It appears that the bracelet, which was original had a rosy color, has since been plated in a more yellow hued gold, causing there to be some slight color variations between the high and low points of the bracelet. If desired, the bracelet could easily be plated for a more consistent gold color. This variation in color is more evident in the pictures and hardly noticeable in person and does not take away from the overall beauty of the piece.
