Victorian French 0.90 Total Carat Diamond Horseshoe and Nail Bangle Bracelet

About the Item

An outstanding equestrian themed diamond bracelet from the Victorian (ca1880) era! French in origin, this incredible 3-dimensional bangle is crafted in vibrant 18kt rose and yellow gold with sterling silver accents. A fabulous open horseshoe rests at the center, grasped between two overlapping "straps" that form the lovely rose gold band and the bracelet. The horseshoe is adorned with 5 sparkling old Rose Cut diamonds across the front surface, each one representing an equestrian "nail" head. Piercing the center of the horseshoe is a fabulous square head nail that is decorated with a prong set old Mine Cut diamond at the center. Collectively, the diamonds weigh approximately 0.90ctw, with incredible facets that reflect the light brilliantly with every turn. A sterling silver "loop" appears to secure each strap to the surface, each one lined with additional old Rose Cut accent diamonds, providing a perfect finishing touch. The smoothly polished rose gold band is hinged on the side and fastens with a secure push clasp. Additionally, there is a safety chain stamped with a French bigorne mark beside either a rhinoceros or boar head (indicating its gold or silver purity), and a safety chain for extra security. The combination of stunning diamonds against the mixed metals background creates an incredibly luxé appeal, and would make an impressive statement piece when worn! The inside of the bracelet (where your wrist would rest) measures approximately 2 1/4" wide and about 1 7/8" tall, and would fit nicely on a medium to average sized wrist. The horseshoe and nail centerpiece measures 7/8" wide and 1 1/4" tall. The gold band measures 3/8" wide at the back. The overall condition of the bracelet is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no serious damage to the gold and silver setting and all of the diamonds are intact. The clasp fastens securely and the hinge and safety chain remain in excellent condition. There are a few very minor indentations along the side and back of the gold band, however, due to their size and location, none are noticeable when worn.
