About the Item
Botanique's handmade bracelet is part of the brand's 'Sailing' collection. An ode to Antigua’s rich history with sailing. Lovers of ships, the sea, sailing, and regatta season know that the beautiful island of Antigua is infamous for Antigua Sailing Week, which started in 1968.
This back-and-forth placement of the Black and Brown Wild Tamarind seeds has a playful nature that reminds you of the waves felt on the sea. Pair it with other pieces from the collection for the full seaside look.
Only five women were on the island of Antigua as master seed workers. To save this art form before it vanished forever, an educational program was developed to preserve the tradition of seed work, with full scholarships for young candidates. Botaniqué Studios is putting Antiguan and Barbudan seedwork, a tradition whose origins have outlived and transcended its challenging past, on the global stage but with a message that is undeniably as beautiful and profound as the craft itself.
