Victorian Yellow Gold Floral Engraved Bracelet

About the Item

This charming Victorian gold bracelet has a lot of detailing. The main feature of the bracelet is an appealing florally scrolled engraved circular centrepiece. This shows leaves and vines twisting together. Each area is elegantly detailed and provides an overall enchantment. This detailing continues as it flows around the outside of the central piece. This element of the bracelet stands out, and is designed as crescent shaped branches opposing each other, with leaves meeting at the outward points. The crescent shapes sitting opposite each other helps to create diamond shape centres and provides an overall Victorian feel. A further two charms hang to each side of the centre, an eagle and a heart. Eagles shown in jewellery are seen to symbolise courage, wisdom and strength. The design of this pendant has a lot of appeal, the body of the eagle has been engraved and exquisitely detailed. Enhancing the craftsmanship even more is the head of the eagle, this comes forward and provides such a unique and striking overall effect. The heart pendant follows the floral theme of the centre, however it has then been enriched with a dark blue enamel star. The middle of the star has been crafted to resemble the centre of a flower. Continuing the botanical style. Hearts designs used in jewellery gained popularity in the 15th and 16th centuries and became widely used throughout subsequent centuries. They have various meanings all over the world. Love being the most well-known. Flowing outwards from the centrepiece are two grooved belcher-link chains. The bracelet is completed with the floral design continuing onto the box closure of the bracelet, this provides a secure fit and pulls the design together blissfully. This bracelet is in excellent condition showing only minor signs of wear and age related marks. Stamped with registered, America, patent number RD 119414 from 1890.
