Jade Cuff Bracelet by Iconic 1980s Designer Wendy Gell
About the Item
This amazing 1980s cuff bracelet was created by hand in the 1980s by one of the era's most iconic fashion jewelry designers, Wendy Gell.
The dramatic statement piece is composed of formed brass that has been layered with nephrite jade, serpentine, aventurine, carnelian, black onyx, rhinestones, and colored textural wire. The overall effect is brilliantly retro. The piece is instantly recognizable as belonging to the 1980s, and to those familiar with Gell's work, it is also instantly recognizable as hers. It is signed by the artist on the interior of the cuff.
The cuff is 5" long and 4.5" wide. The inner diameter is approximately 2.75" with a generous opening of 1.5", so it should fit a small to medium-sized wrist.
The stones are attached to the brass with glue and where there is visible glue, it has yellowed over time. But this does not compromise the drama or beauty of this mega-1980s statement bracelet.
The jade stones have not been tested and are presumed to be treated.
