About the Item

A cuff bracelet designed by Hemmerle. Fantastic and elegant cuff bracelet, created in Munich Germany by the jewelry house of Hemmerle, back in the late 2000. This gorgeous and very rare piece has been crafted in solid yellow gold of 18 karats with high polished finish and details at the ends in .900/.999 platinum for the setting of the diamonds. The entire surfaces are fully covered with eight hundred six natural earth mined gemstones, such; Harlequin black opals, spessartite garnets and colorless diamonds with a total combined weight of 116.88 carats. It is fitted with an invisible twisted hinge as a closure-opening system. Hemmerle jewelry pieces are rare and very hard to find. An extraordinary piece like this is an unique opportunity to own. The craftsmanship and the gemstones assembling are really exceptional, this is definitely a great collector's items. The Exceptional About This Piece Some pieces of jewelry require special care in their design and planning for their eventual manufacturing and thus guarantee the final success of the artist's conception. Such is the case of this magnificent piece which demonstrates the mastery and impeccable skill of the artist and the goldsmith. The selection of gems and the masterful coordination of their settings are noted in each section. In the case of diamonds, they are perfectly cut and calibrated at angles to create the effect of a continuous band, which in turn serves as a transition space between orange garnets and black opals. The ends of this bracelet are crowned with two magnificent identical Australian black opal studs. We are sure that both were cut from the same matrix and separated at birth due the similarity in brilliance and nuance of their colors graduated from green to blue with reddish hints. Lastly and not because of its level of importance, we see the magnificent spessartite garnets. To make this pavement with this type of rare garnets, it must have been an extensive and laborious search lasting several years, since the reddish orange color is vivid, bright and totally even. The gems are brilliant cut type and the sizes go in gradation like a waterfall. The settings is almost invisible and disappears from view. Diamonds: Mounted in two channel settings, with 26 calibre baguette step cut, for a total weight of 6.65 carats, white colorless D/E color, VVS-1 clarity. Black Opals: Mount in bezel settings, with 2 oval cabochon cut (19.1 x 12.2 x 5.5 mm) of natural Australian black opals, with a combined weight of 17.78 carats. The opals are from the Harlequin color variety with rainbow opalescence Spessartite Mandarin Garnets: Mounted in a flush prongs settings, with a graduated assortment of 868 calibrated round faceted cut of natural spessartite mandarin garnets, with a combined weight of 92.45 carats. Weight: 181.45 Grams, (116.52 Dwt). Measurements: The widest point is 23 mm (0.91 Inches). Sizing: Fit a wrist up to 7 inches (17.95 Cm). Hallmarks: Stamped with the Hemmerle maker's mark GH associated to Gebrüder Hemmerle, the marks for the assay of the 18kt gold and the platinum and signed in full, "HEMMERLE GTH 0.750 PT". Max Pollinger, a German master jeweler who passed away in December 2000 was responsible of the jewelry making for the Munich firm, Hemmerle. Australian Black Opals These kind of opals are the most valuable and widely known type of opal. Black opal is characterized by a dark body tone which can range from dark grey, blue, green to jet black. Unlike ordinary opals, black opals have carbon and iron oxide trace elements present, which cause the unusual darkness of the stone. Because of their dark body tone, the rainbow colors in a black opal stand out much better than lighter opals. This vibrancy of colour makes black opal the most valuable form of all opals. Often a black opal will have a natural layer of potch (colorless opal) left on the back of the stone, which can give the stone an extra darkness and vibrancy of colour. The darker this potch backing is, the darker the body tone, which usually makes for greater vibrancy of colour and a higher value black opal. This is the principle upon which doublets and triplets are based, which are an imitation of solid black opals. Black opals are generally cut into an oval shape, however this depends on the natural shape of the stone. Sometimes black opals are cut into freeform or teardrop shapes in order to maximize the size and carat weight of the stone. Black opals are normally cut with a low cabochon, due to the opal colour bar often being much thinner in black opal than in white or crystal opals. If the colour bar in an opal is thin, it is impossible to create a domed surface. Black opals are mostly mined in Lightning Ridge, in northern New South Wales. Lightning Ridge is famous for the black opal and hundreds of millions of dollars worth of black opals have been found there. In 2008, the black opal was named as the ‘gemstone emblem’ for New South Wales. Black opals have also been found at Mintabie in South Australia. Spessartite Garnets This gemstone is usually seen in orange to reddish brown hues. A gem quality spessartite or spessartine garnets can be very rare. These two names are not the only ones spessartite garnet is known by; spessartite garnets are known by a few names, including Fanta garnet, for the famed brilliant orange colour Mandarin spessartite garnets come in. The other tones, such as reddish-orange or brownish-orange come from iron impurities present in the gems. These iron impurities are so common that pure orange spessartites are considered incredibly rare and have a markedly higher price tag. Impurities and inclusions are not uncommon in Spessartite, which also will impact price. The most common of these inclusions will be wavy feathers that form in the gems due to liquid drops that become trapped in the gemstones. Asterisms, a star-like effect that appears on the surface of the stone due to inclusions within it, are also common. This inclusion, however, can actually increase the value of the gemstone. Spessartite also has an exceptionally high refractive index, which give Spessartite garnet a unique brilliance rivalled by few gemstones. Owing to this fact, Spessartite have an attractive brilliance when set with diamonds. Spessartite is one of six recognized species of garnets: spessartite, pyrope, almandine, grossularite, andradite, and uvarovite. Note: This bracelet cuff is an unique one of a kind piece.
