Antique 1840's Neo Gothic Bracelet Silver Gilt Lapis Lazuli Flower Ornaments
About the Item
This important silver gilt bracelet is executed in Neo Gothic taste popular in France in the 1840's. The bracelet is designed as six articulated oval elements in high relief. Each element features an inner oval with a flower made up from four oval lapis lazuli petals. The inner oval is set in a larger oval frame decorated with eight facetted round lapislazuli stones in flower shaped mounts that alternate with eight gilt flowers in relief. The oval elements are connected by two silver gilt circles joined by a round element decorated with a gilt quatre foil. All elements are hand engraved on their reverse with a circle of leaves, a symbol of eternity. The bracelet is unmarked, it is known that it came from a French family in the Bordeaux region.
