Vintage UnoAErre Italian Gold and Platinum Bracelet, circa 1970
About the Item
An Italian 18ct gold and platinum chain link bracelet, by UnoAErre, featuring chunky long and short links, with a satin finish, platinum overlay on the gold links. The long links are curved for a comfortable fit, with an invisible clasp, stamped UnoAErre, Italy, circa 1970.
UnoAErre is and Italian jewellery, goldsmithing and watchmaking company, based in Arezzo. Leopoldo Gori and Carlo Zucchi founded the company on 15th March, 1926. There aim was to utilise industrial methodologies to minimise the costs of working in precious metals. The 1AR identification mark on the punch affixed to products assigned to the first goldsmith company of Arezzo was the inspiration for the name UnoAErre. Production reached its highest levels in the 1960s, with more than 1200 staff employed. Its workforce began to be reduced in the 1970s. Today the company has fewer than 500 staff. In the mid 1990s ownership of the company passed from the Gori-Zucchi familes to Morgenf Enfield of the Deutsche Bank Group. With the help of a group of banks the Zucchi family regained ownership and moved operations to a new factory. In 2008 the company changed its methods to produce items that are lighter, containing less gold and expanded the production of accessories. UnoAErre operates a museum, with works of the artists who have collaborated in the design of its jewellery, including Pietro Cascella, Salvador Dali and Salvatore Fiume. There is also a section on industrial archaeology.
