About the Item

Bracelet designed by Gubelin. An impeccable, sleek and ultra modern masterpiece that defines Swiss jewelry. This wonderful bracelet has ben created by the house of Gubelin at the end of the decade of the 60's. It was carefully crafted in solid yellow gold of 18 karats and finished with mirrored high polish. Suited with a push boxed lock with a hinged figure 8 for extra security. The bracelet is semi concave with rectangular links secured by invisible joints. The two edges are treated with intricate Florentine patterns, giving a contrasting detail between the modern and classic to the piece. Have a total weight of 124.8 Grams and a length of 7 Inches (17.75 Cm). The width measure is 24.3 mm (1 Inch). Stamped with Swiss assay hallmarks, the maker's logo, the serial numbers and signed, "GUBELIN .750 386218". The Gubelin house was founded in 1854 when Mauritz Breitschmid opened a watchmaker's shop on the Pfistergasse in Lucerne. a few years later, in 1861, Eduard Jakob Gübelin was born in eastern Switzerland. he subsequently moved to Lucerne and was apprenticed to the watchmaker Mauritz Breitschmid. The year 1886 marked a special occasion in the young watchmaker's life as Eduard Jakob Gübelin married bertha Sophia Breitschmid, the daughter of his old master. In the same year, the two men became business partners, managing the growing company together. In the 1920s Gübelin opened its own jewelry atelier and at the same time set up a small gemological laboratory so that it could test – and be sure of the authenticity – of the stones its jewelers used. It also continued making and repairing fine watches for a discerning clientele, developing a reputation that soon reached throughout Europe and overseas. Since 1854, the house of Gübelin has always been in the hands of the family and led by a family member throughout time the Gübelin family carefully nurtured its traditions. It kept the company’s core values alive and passed them on to the next generation which contributed to the success and growth of the swiss house. Note: Florentine finish is the cross-hatched pattern, typically tooled directly into the surface of the metal in a piece of jewelry. Because it is engraved into the surface of the metal, it is often coarser and a bit deeper than that of something like a brushed finish. to accomplish this effect, it is typically done using a hand tool. A series of lines are engraved in two directions crossing over one another. the result is a less reflective surface with deeper groove lines than that over other finishes using similar techniques. it is an alternative to both matte finishing and brushed finishing.
