This bracelet showcases the perfect union of a large deeply colored smoky quartz with the lustrous sterling silver, brought to life by the visionary genius of Vivianna Torun. The seamless fusion of contemporary design and timeless craftsmanship shines through every curve and contour of this bracelet. The smooth rounded silhouette of this bracelet is an essential element of Nordic design. An absolutely stunning piece of design jewelry that makes its stylish and design-led presence known when worn. Vivianna Torun, born in 1927 is known worldwide, simply as Torun. She was the first female jeweler to become internationally famous. Her jewelry is the sine qua non of mid-century Nordic/Scandinavian design. She attended the Academy of Industrial Arts in Stockholm and was later the first female silversmith in Sweden to have her own workshop. Torun began working with Georg Jensen in 1967 and made uncompromising jewelry using sculptural, simple spiral forms. Torun's jewelry was inspired by natural shapes: flowers, leaves, swirls, and the flow of water. It has also been described as sober, minimalist, and simple, yet it always emphasizes the lines of a woman’s body. The smokey quartz bracelet is beautifully designed to embrace a woman's wrist or arm just so. Torun saw women of all ages wearing her jewelry. “A piece of jewelry should be a symbol of love. It should enhance and move with the body so that it blends with you. It must not overwhelm but enhance you. This is why it must be timeless. It shouldn’t matter if you are seventeen or eighty-seven years old.” Torun was much admired, including by Picasso, whose museum in Antibes showed her work beginning in 1958. Billie Holiday and Ingrid Bergman wore her jewelry.
