Gucci France 1968 Rare Buckle Bracelet Watch in Macassar Wood Inlaid of 18K Gold

About the Item

A retro wrist watch designed by Gucci France. An extremely rare piece, created in Paris France by the house of Gucci, back in the 1968. This unusual buckle wrist watch was carefully crafted with parts carved in natural Macassar ebony wood and embellished with inlaid and elements made up of solid yellow gold of 18 karats. The movement is manual, the dial is gold with roman numbers and black hands, cushion shape glass and the crown bezel is set with a round cabochon blue sapphire. This piece is exceptionally rare and never seen before. It is normal that it has light wear and small imperfections due to its use. This watch is not waterproof or shockproof, it is a magnificent piece to wear from time to time with great care and appreciate it in a very specialized collection, it is an exhibition piece. Weight: 51.4 Grams, (32.95 Dwt). Measurements: Has a total length of 8.25 Inches (21 Cm) and the widest part is 25.5 mm (1 Inch). Fit a wrist up to 7 Inches. The case measures are 36mm by 17 mm (Inches). Hallmarks: All parts are stamped with French marks, the eagle head for the assay and warranty of the 18kt gold, the maker's mark Ste. G. (French Societe Gucci) and signed in full, "GUCCI ITALY .750 BREVETTATO 31 18KT Ste G FI195 PHC105". Gucci, was founded in 1921 in the Tuscany region of Italy, in Florence , when Guccio Gucci bought his own shop on 7, Via della Vigna Nuova in Florence, Azienda Individuale Guccio Gucci, where he sold imported leather luggage. He also opened a small workshop to have his own leather goods made by local craftsmen. Eventually, a larger workshop had to be acquired to house Gucci's 60 artisans. In 1935 the invasion of Ethiopia by Mussolini led the League of Nations to impose a trade embargo on Italy. Leather became scarce, pushing Guccio Gucci to introduce other fabrics in the composition of the products, such as raffia, wicker, wood, linen and, jute. The rombi motif, a Gucci signature, was created. The Gucci's developed a new tanning technique to produce "cuoio grasso", which became a Gucci trademark. In 1937, Gucci launched its handbags. Under the direction of Aldo Gucci (son of Guccio), Gucci became a worldwide-known brand, an icon of the Italian Dolce Vita. During the 2010s, Gucci became an iconic 'geek-chic' brand.
