Mexican Art Deco Taxco Bracelet. An oversized statement piece, created in the popular city of the silver Taxco Mexico during the Art deco period, circa 1930. This massive eye catching bracelet was carefully assembled from parts crafted in solid .980/.999 silvers. The design is composed by three semi curved squared links attached together by hinges and suited with a long stick pin as a closure system with two chains for extra security. The surface is embellished with geometric patterns made up with thin wires. Mounted in prongs with three pieces carved from natural Mexican jade with indigenous motifs from ancient cultures. This is a gorgeous early example of Mexican deco jewelry, before than the American and foreigners designers, such Spratling, Carmen Beckmann, Margot and others decided to open silver workshops in the city of Taxco. Silver alloy of .980/.999 is purer than sterling silver and was used by all the early masters in Mexico such as Spratling and Aguilar. This classic bracelet is in thick silver, forming an Aztec glyph design, deeply incised and is a good size. The Mexicans craftsmanship with Sterling Silver is awesome making Taxco jewelry so fun to collect It is a pretty heavy piece with a total weight of 192.5 Grams. The inside circumference is 8 Inches (20 Cm) and the width measure is 60 mm (2.36 Inches). Stamped with the silver assay hallmark and the city of production, "TAXCO .950". Note: Jadeite, found in Central America, which is more mottled and opaque than Oriental jade. It has been found in many shades of green, as well as ranging from grey to white. It was much used in pre-Columbian jewelry by the early Indians. Worked pieces of jadeite can be seen all over Mesoamerica from the Olmec of Mexico to the Mayan Lowlands in central Honduras, and in Northern Costa Rica. Consumers of these worked jade products can be seen in the Valley of Mexico, Valley of Oaxaca, and in highland Guatemala. Condition: The overall condition of this bracelet is excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the silver. All the three jade gemstones, are secured in the settings.
