About the Item

A little more poetic than the term "tennis bracelet", though descriptive of the same piece of jewellery is the "rivière" bracelet. The term is derived from the French word for river and describes the way such a bracelet seems to flow around the wrist like a shimmering river. This vintage bracelet is an unusual variation on this classic rivière theme and presents not only one, but two types of gemstones side by side: the ruby and the diamond. Arranged in a sleek line and held by subtle settings, the red rubies emphasise the white of the diamonds and vice versa. In their settings, the gemstones are slightly raised on tiny galleries so that they do no directly touch the skin, allowing additional light to reach them and intensify their sparkle. The clasp is hidden, so that one can wear the bracelet carefree, without worrying about it showing. Special attention has been paid to the selection of materials which are of excellent quality. 20 completely natural and untreated rubies in beautiful rose red hues are joined by diamonds of particularly good qualities, all exhibiting a fine white Top Wesselton colour and clarities between if (internally flawless) and vvsi (tiniest inclusions only visible beneath tenfold magnification). The bracelet is in excellent condition and a particularly luxurious example of fine jewellery of the 1960s, a time when white brilliants were often combined with selected coloured gemstones. An independent gemological expertise confirms the quality of the materials.
