To top it off, the brooch is adorned with thirty-three round brilliant cut diamonds weighing approximately 4.75 carats, rated as GH VVS-VS1 for their exceptional quality. This brooch is a true work of art, with each stone expertly selected and placed to create a dazzling effect. It's perfect for anyone looking to make a statement at a special event, or simply add some glamour to their everyday wardrobe. So why wait? Get ready to destroy the competition with this magnificent bauble. The history of synthetic rubies in fine jewelry is similar to that of synthetic sapphires. The first synthetic rubies were created in the late 1800s by a French chemist named Auguste Verneuil using the same flame fusion process that he used to create synthetic sapphires. Verneuil discovered that he could produce a synthetic ruby by adding small amounts of chromium oxide to the powdered aluminum oxide he used to make synthetic sapphires. The chromium gave the synthetic ruby its characteristic red color. The first synthetic rubies were not used in jewelry, but rather in scientific research and industrial applications. However, by the early 1900s, jewelers began to experiment with using synthetic rubies in fine jewelry. Like synthetic sapphires, synthetic rubies offered a more affordable and consistent alternative to natural rubies. The popularity of synthetic rubies in jewelry grew during the Art Deco period of the 1920s and 1930s, when jewelers began to use them in a variety of colorful and geometric designs. Synthetic rubies were also widely used in engagement rings and other fine jewelry during this time. During World War II, the use of natural rubies in jewelry declined due to the disruption of the global supply chain. This further boosted the popularity of synthetic rubies, as they were more readily available and less expensive than natural rubies. Today, synthetic rubies are still used in fine jewelry and can be found in a variety of styles and price points. However, many people still prefer natural rubies for their unique beauty and rarity.
