Antique Fontana boxed 18K gold opal diamond pin brooch
About the Item
For sale a very chic Victorian era, 18K gold opal pin brooch. This stunning piece features a uniquely cut opal, fashioned into a captivating triangular shape that sets it apart from the ordinary. The opal carries a strong play of fire, showcasing a mesmerizing array of rainbow hues, including red, green, blue, and yellow.
Two rose-cut diamonds rest gracefully beneath the opal, sparkling with a brilliance of their own. The entire motif is meticulously mounted in 18K yellow gold and the pin is stamped with the French eagle's head hallmark for 18K gold.
As a testament to its heritage, the pin brooch is presented in an antique red leather box from the renowned French jewelry house, Fontana. It was founded by Thomas Fontana in the 1840s, starting with a small workshop in Paris. Thanks to success and a growing reputation and in 1896, the firm moved to a larger and more prestigious location on Rue Royale in Paris as show on this box, where it kept the quality of the firm's jewelry high.
