There is something extra special about antique cannetille pieces, the tiny details and the hours of work that went into creating such delicate and elaborate designs. Rich 18kt gold gives a warm glow to this piece with the rich golden leaves scrolling outward, intercepting the fine gold cannetille work and the lovely vibrant Amethyst stones. The stones are foil backed and set into an array surrounding the main centre stone, the large oval centre stone has light warm hues from the foil backing. Here we have a very well made, antique, pin/brooch that was crafted in France from solid 18k gold and silver during the Victorian era. The brooch features a large beetle design that shows incredible detail and is neatly set with fine stones throughout. The beetles' wings are constructed from polished, custom cut, garnets that are well matched showing a deep, dark, red color bringing a truly rich look to this piece. The body of the beetle is then adorned with old rose cut diamonds in which brilliantly sparkle for a glamorous touch, while the eyes stand out with the vivid red color of the cabochon cut rubies.
