Antique Ruby and Diamond crescent brooch, silver and 9k gold
About the Item
Ahh the antique Crescent moon brooch, such a revered and sought after jewel, both today and in the past.
Not only are celestial pieces considered some of the most beautiful in the world they are also full of symbolism.
This beauty is made from 9ct gold with a silver coated front, the silver helps the diamonds to really stand out along with the rich pinky red rubies.
Crescent moons were a popular motif in Victorian and later Edwardian jewellery, they are attributed to a number of meanings from feminine strength to changes or new chapters and they remain popular today.
It has a replacement safety catch and pin fastener and a small loop for attaching a safety chain if desired.
A very versatile piece, can be worn in many ways, adorning a lapel or as a tie / cravat pin, threaded through your favourite antique neckmess or clamped to a wrist stack of bracelets, the possibilities are truly endless.

Condition:
Good used condition overall, signs of use and wear commensurate with age, clasp is a later replacement and slight solder marks can be seen at both ends.
