Antique Silver, Rose Gold & Cat's Eye Quartz Bee Brooch - France - Circa 1870's
About the Item
Antique French silver topped 18K rose gold bee brooch (possibly by Alphonse Auger - Place des Victoires, Paris) - featuring exceptional Cat's Eye Quartz round and oval cabochons for the head and body (approximately 7 mm. Diameter x 7 mm. High = 2.45 carat weight and 10 mm. Long x 10 mm. Wide x 7 mm. High = 5.01 carat weight - total of 7.46 carat weight) - total of 18 old cut diamonds (14 on the two sets of wings, 3 on the collar separating the head from the body and one at the nose) - natural cabochon ruby bezel set eyes - original extended pin with tube hinge and double hook - completely hand made - finest French quality workmanship with classic details and a warm aged patina - gold acid tested - inventory number to the back - unsigned - France (Paris) - circa 1870's.
Excellent antique condition - all original - one front foot missing (doesn't show when worn - only viewable from the underside) - minor scuffs and scratches - no damage - no repairs - signs of age and use - ready to wear.
