Art Deco 1930's Diamond Pearl 18 Karat Gold Platinum Brooch
About the Item
This gorgeous 1930's Art Deco diamond and pearl bar brooch is set in an 18 karat gold platinum frame. The brooch is embellished with twelve clear round cultured pearls, surrounded by a halo of shimmering old cut diamonds, displayed within mille grain decorative settings. The cultured pearls are set in a row surrounded by octagon (8/8) cut diamonds. The brooch fastens at the back with a hinged pin and clasp.
One of the most common styles of jewelry in the 1920s in Europe and 1930s in the United States was the sparkle - the more sparkle, the better. This trend has been interpreted and used in different ways - the 'white on white' style was one of the most popular. The reason that sparkle became so popular during the 1930s was the rise of the silver screen. Increasingly, more people were going to the movie theaters to see the latest releases – which would be in black and white. The jewelry popped off the canvas by its sparkle.
The brooch in in very good condition and of high quality. It has a good weight of 8 grams.
