About the Item

Edwardian art nouveau enamel Orchid brooch. An exceptional three-dimensional piece, created in America during the Edwardian and the Art Nouveau periods, back in the 1901-1910. This rare beautiful pin brooch has been carefully crafted in the shape of an orchid flower in solid yellow gold of 18 and 14 karats. It is finished with satin frosted and embellished with applications of non glossy powder enamel with a fabulous gradations of pink white and green colors. The enamel work is exceptional and meticulous, far exceeding the details of the fibers and veins of the leaves. It is a little jewel with exquisite and exceptional details. It is fitted with a horizontal hinged pin bar and a mechanical security lock to wear as a brooch and a hook to wear in a chain. Pearls: The pistils and the center of the flower are mount, with 11 round white and gray pearls of different sizes. Weight: 7.95 Grams (5.07 Dwt). Measurements: 30 mm by 29 mm by 8 mm (1.18 x 1.14 x 0.32 Inches). Hallmarks: Stamped with the maker's mark and the gold assay mark, "14KT". Note: The Edwardian Jewelry Period was during the King Edward VII, after whom this period of jewelry history is named, reigned over England for only nine years, yet the style of jewelry known as “Edwardian” was created roughly between 1890 and 1920. Edwardian-era rings tend to be larger, opulent pieces, and stacked ring designs were popular. The metal surfaces of the rings were often diamond-encrusted for additional shimmer. Each of these rings is a work of art, showcasing a bygone era of grace, elegance and the royalty the Edwardian era is named for. Collateral: It is accompanied by a presentation jewelry box.
