Classic and Rare Small Matched Pair of Zuni Rainbow Dancer Pins by Merle Edaakie

About the Item

Merle Edaakie, Zuni Master Lapidary Artist Zuni Inlay Rainbow Dancer Pin Set 1946 Robert Wallace Collection Collection Numbers RP 135 & RP 217 Natural turquoise, spiny oyster shell, mother of pearl, and jet set in Sterling Silver. This rare and classic matching pair of small Rainbow Dancer Design Pins was made by Merle Edaakie (also known as Merle Edokakie) in 1946. Strikingly beautiful, this pair of small Rainbow Dancer pins is a wonderful example of the finest stone-to-stone inlay made by the Zuni Master Merle Edaakie. Each is set with natural turquoise, spiny oyster shell, mother of pearl, and black jet. They were commissioned and purchased by Robert Wallace of the renowned Zuni trading family. These matching pins comprise two of the five Rainbow Dancer Pins specifically made for and purchased by Robert Wallace in 1946. Edaakie also worked for C.G. Wallace, another member of the famous Zuni trading family. Merle Edaakie is considered one of the best of the first-generation of Zuni stone-carving-and-inlay artists. His work is highly collectible and sought after. Edaakie's Rainbow Dancer Pins, along along with five Knife Wing Design pieces by John Gordon Leak, were prominently featured in the 1975 Sotheby's auction of the C.G. Wallace collection. I am the third owner of this rare and amazing 10-piece collection, which has not appeared on the market since I purchased them in 1988. For the very first time, all the classic pieces in this historic collection are now being made available for purchase.
