A large sterling and paste clip, Eisenberg Original, USA, 1940s

About the Item

A beautiful clip of the highest quality, like the very best silver and paste jewellery, by Eisenberg, in the form of a 'fruit', with a large cut paste stone surrounded by paste leaves.A rare and charming design. The fitting on the reverse is a double pronged clip, called a 'fur' clip, typical of jewellery at this time, though more suited to robust fabrics as it is a heavy brooch. The Eisenberg company specialised in dresses and suits and added the brooches to the clothing for sale. In the 1930s, they became so popular that they sold the brooches alone, made in both sterling silver and base metal.
