Gamma Phi Beta Sorority Brooch Pin for Texas Tech Beta Tau Chapter from 1980
About the Item
This Gamma Phi Beta brooch / pin is an estate piece with a beautiful history. The Gamma Phi Beta sorority was originally founded in Syracuse University in 1874. The term "sorority" was actually coined for Gamma Phi Beta's women's organization. The 'BT' pin connected to the Gamma Phi Beta pin represents the Beta Tau chapter at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas which started in 1956 and closed in 2001. The back of the Gamma Phi Beta pin is stamped 'BT' '80' 'J. JONES' which tells the story that this brooch was presented to J. Jones of the Beta Tau chapter in 1980.
This would make a great addition to a legacy jewelry collection, especially if you have family that once participated in Gamma Phi Beta or attended Texas Tech! The Gamma Phi Beta sorority is still active today and is an international sorority!
