A late 19th century emerald and diamond dragonfly brooch
About the Item
A late 19th century emerald and diamond dragonfly brooch, the body set with an old European-cut diamond estimated to weigh 0.4 carat, the tail set with nine faceted emeralds estimated to weigh approximately 1.2 carats in total the wings and the eyes set with small rose-cut diamonds, all mounted in silver, yellow and rose-gold, with gold brooch fitting, bearing French eagle gold marks for 18ct gold and indistinct makers mark, circa 1890, measuring 4.2 x 5cm, gross weight 11.1 grams.
This antique brooch is in very good condition with signs of wear consistent with its age.
A late 19th century Victorian era dragonfly brooch made with an old European cut diamonds estimated to weight 0.4 carat and faceted emeralds estimated to weight 1.2 carats. Sold by Bentley & Skinner, London jewellers by royal appointment to both Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Prince of Whales. Made in gold and silver, gross weight 11.1 grams, circa 1890.
