Late Victorian Turquoise and Diamond Clover Leaf Brooch
About the Item
A late Victorian turquoise and diamond clover leaf brooch, the three leaves each set with a cabochon-cut pear-shaped turquoise to the centre of a cluster surround of old-cut diamonds, to a diamond-encrusted stalk, the diamonds estimated to weigh a total of 1 carat, all cut-down set in silver with yellow gold back, circa 1900, measuring approximately 2.5 x 2.2cm, gross weight 4.2 grams.
This antique brooch is in very good condition for its age. Unmarked, tested as silver with 14ct gold back and 9ct gold pin.
This is a fabulous late Victorian brooch. Made in around 1900, this brooch comes from the collection of Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales. This brooch exemplifies the late Victorian taste for lucky symbols: crafted in the shape of a clover, this brooch also features wonderfully vivid turquoise. The turquoise is complimented perfectly by the lively diamonds and silver and gold setting. This piece would look perfect adorning a lapel.
