My Glitterati: Mid 20th Century Diamond Brooch
About the Item
More representative and certainly less stylized than its contemporary creations, the masterful metal smithing and superlative flowing design of this superb flower brooch is apparent. The high quality workmanship in evidence almost pales with the caliber of the outstanding diamonds chosen for the piece. Most fine diamonds are “saved” for use in rings and are typically not set into brooches.
Glittering and sparkling, four (4) round brilliants of about 1.6 carats, twelve (12) round brilliants of 2.40 carats, two (2) additional round brilliants of .25 carats and two hundred and three (203) diamonds of approximately 6.09 carats are set within a platinum mount. All of the gorgeous gems with an estimated total diamond weight of 10.34 carats are G-J in color and VS1-2 clarity.
Perfect diamond-studded platinum leaf forms are accented with 18k yellow gold petioles or stems, ribs and veins. The undersides displays the superior architecture of the metal work and the well fabricated brooch fittings for a secure hold.
Measurements: 2 inches (5.1 cm) in length by 1-7/8 inches (4.7 cm) at the widest by 3/4 of an inch (1.8 cm) in depth. Weight of 41.8 grams (26.9 dwt).
Note 1: All diamond weights, color grades and clarity are approximate since the stones were not removed from their mounts to preserve the integrity of the setting.
Note 2: This brooch comes with an International Gemological Institute (IGI) certification for 4 round brilliant diamonds at 1.6 carats and 12 round brilliants at 2.40 carats with a retail replacement value of $31,355.
