About the Item
Simply Beautiful! Ladybird or Ladybug Designer Signed Brooch Pin by Lea Stein, Paris. Rrich, vibrant shiny red with contrasting black spots. The heads and bodies are shiny black. The wings are in a red with a subtle pattern like on watermarked silk fabrics. The reverse is very like the underbelly of the real bug! Each brooch has the traditional trademark ‘V’ shaped pin on the back and is signed: ‘LEA STEIN PARIS’; pin back with a roll-over type fastener. The brooch is made from Celluloid and is in excellent condition. Measuring approx. 2” x 1.75”. More Beautiful in real time! Sure to be admired... Lea Stein is famed for her Jewelry featuring her Animal designs which have featured cats, foxes, dogs, birds and many other things over her history.
LEA STEIN was born in Paris in 1931 and worked as a dress designer. She began making her now famous Jewellery when her husband, Fernand Steinberger, (a Plastics Chemist) discovered a process of laminating cellulose acetate to create a unique range of colors & patterns.
Buttons for her frocks were their first products; followed by brooches, bangles and earrings. Lea Stein loved to produce designs based on animals and flowers. The fabulous designs, the ease of wearing and their delightful appeal are just some of the reasons why they are so collected around the world today.
