Remarkable French Belle Epoque Movable Enamel Leaves Flower Pin
About the Item
Amazing versatile brooch created in France in the 1890's. It is a very special and important piece of jewelry! The way it was designed and made puts it amongst the masterpieces of jewelry art! The brooch can also be worn as a pendant or a clip. There are so many ways to wear this stunning piece that you might have a new jewel every time you wear it.
It was created as a flower. The highlights are the flower's leaves.
All six leaves are set on three hinges/joints (two leaves on each joint). The joints turn and the leaves move in different directions. That allows to fix the leaves in many planes as well as to turn them upside down. Three leaves are solid and inlaid on both sides with enamel, three other leaves are openwork and set with diamonds & rubies and touched with light blue enamel. The fantasy flower root is set with citrines.
As to the size of the piece, it depends how it is open - the smallest version (when all the leaves pointed downward) measures 5-5/8" long and 3-1/2" wide and the largest version measures 7-1/4" long and 4" wide (from the tip of the root to the tip of the middle leaf opened all way to the right). Each leaf measures 2-1/8" by 1-1/2".
It is made of solid 18k yellow gold and has two hooks which allow to wear it as a pendant or clip.
The brooch comes in the original fitted box.
