Silver Modernist French Horn Brooch
$825

About
Paul Lobel, an American modernist jewelry designer fashioned this sculptural french horn in sterling in a striking style and size. Lobel, a New York artist, made a series of jewelry in musical instrument forms. This french horn is one of his 1950's series. The bottom of the horn is curved and ends in a raised rim, a touch that gives it perspective and depth. It is additionally striking because parts of the instrument are open and some are solid. When placed on a solid color background, this positive, negative aspect is sculptural. Critically placed curls of silver give the french horn whimsy akin to music. The pin stem is long and strong with a safety clasp. Signed Lobel, Sterling. Excellent condition. c.1950's Measurements: L.3 5/8, H. 2 in.
