Georgian Lover's Eye Brooch

About the Item

Rare Georgian Lover's Eye Brooch from the late 1700's. Painted miniature portrait of a young woman, looking upwards with white ribbon holding her hair, with a lover's eye painted on the obverse, both caught under glass panes. The unknown young man's blue eye is hand painted and is only visible to her. Engraved foliate frame and hilts in high karat gold. Early extended pin stem. 1780's UK. 1.4" x .75".
