This jabot* pin is ornamented to one end with a fox at full stretch, and to the other with a horse and rider. The fox is ornamented with ten pavé set Dutch cut diamonds, and a single bezel set cabochon cut ruby to represent the fox's eye. The horse is embellished with a further 15 pavé set Dutch cut diamonds, with a bezel set cabochon cut sapphire representing its eye. The rider is accented with hand painted enamels, showing wear in keeping with age. The 18k white gold pin is secured via a push fit sleeve to the reverse of the horse and rider. * Jabot pins were initially worn when men's shirts had a ruffle to the front. The pin was employed to keep the ruffle in place. Jabot pins have subsequently been worn by men as either cravat or tie pins, and by ladies as brooches or lapel pins.
