Victorian Pearl & Diamond Starburst Brooch & Pendant Circa 1890s

About the Item

A superb Victorian pearl & diamond starburst brooch with a pendant fitting and safety chain. An unusual rotational symmetry featuring seven points. A central cluster with one natural pearl & seven natural half pearls with surrounding starburst design in little tulip flowers with seven rays set with small seed pearls. Diamonds set in seven points to add the sparkle. Stars and celestial jewels have a timeless allure that just keeps on going and they are as wearable today as they were then. Stars are believed to bring guidance, motivation, & good wishes. Tulips traditionally represent prosperity, good luck and love amongst other things making this a very symbolic little piece. The Victorian era was one of romance. Queen Victoria was madly in love with her Albert, and the jewellery swayed in style accordingly.
