About the Item

A turn of the century novelty scatter pin consisting of a green enamel and pearl set turtle, and green enamel and pearl spider with cabochon cut ruby eyes, all in 18ct yellow gold and linked by an oval chain, linked with two small gold balls, the pin 30mmx16mm, gross weight 6.7g, circa 1900. This antique brooch is in very good condition for its age. Unmarked, tested as 14ct gold. This early Edwardian animal inspired scatter pin is a charming piece in the collection of Bentley and Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales. Suitable for the lapel or the scarf of a gentleman or a lady, the spider and the turtle are reminiscent of an Aesop fable. Shortly afterwards we will send you on a valuation for insurance purposes for your reference and safekeeping.
