An exceptional, fine and impressive vintage 0.20 carat diamond, 0.20 carat ruby, 0.21 carat sapphire, hot enamel and 18 karat yellow gold dragon brooch; part of our diverse jewelry collections This exceptional, fine and impressive vintage gold brooch has been crafted in 18k yellow gold. The brooch has been modelled in the form of a dragon with textured ornamentation in yellow gold to represent to dragon's scales. The lower portion of the dragon's body is ornamented with impressive textured hot enamel decoration in tones of green and yellow. The impressive brooch is further ornamented with a yellow gold bouquet of flowers held in the dragon's mouth. The flowers are each represented by an individually claw set gemstone; a combination of impressive modern brilliant cut diamonds, round faceted rubies and round faceted sapphires. The dragon's eye is represented by a circular panel of black enamel. The brooch secures to the reverse with a hinged double pin and push fit safety clasp. The exceptional brooch is hallmarked to the reverse of the setting with the 18k gold fineness mark - 750 - and the Italian town and maker's mark for Alessandria (494 AL). Here we have a very well made, antique, pin/brooch that was crafted in France from solid 18k gold and silver during the Victorian era. The brooch features a large beetle design that shows incredible detail and is neatly set with fine stones throughout. The beetles' wings are constructed from polished, custom cut, garnets that are well matched showing a deep, dark, red color bringing a truly rich look to this piece. The body of the beetle is then adorned with old rose cut diamonds in which brilliantly sparkle for a glamorous touch, while the eyes stand out with the vivid red color of the cabochon cut rubies. The remaining areas display high quality workmanship with its truly outstanding and realistic detail, including at the underside of the beetle in which is perfectly set on the gold stick that is elegantly adorned with a lovely cultured pearl at its top.
