Sisters Amaia and Yolanda Torrubia, very sensitive about global environmental and social issues contribute to philanthropic organizations with a percentage from proceed sales. Each piece is meticulously handcrafted in their own workshops following the traditional craftsmanship learned as the third generation of goldsmiths since 1919. In-House production also enables TORRUBIA & TORRUBIA to offer the exclusive services of customizing certain collection pieces and bespoke design. The Sisters launched TORRUBIA & TORRUBIA and opened the flagship store in 2009. Promptly recognized internationally, became recipient of the prestigious awards: “V Tahitian Pearl Trophy”, in 2012, 2013, 2014, finalist of the “Fashion Group International Rising Star Award” and finalist of Vogue’s” Who’s on Next” same years. In 2014 received “El Dedal de Oro” Award. The most prestigious fashion magazines and celebrities quickly recognized their special creations. Fashion designers requested their collaboration for NYFW. In 2011, Nicola Formichetti showcased TORRUBIA & TORRUBIA among everything he loved within his NY store. Based in San Sebastian and New York the sisters combine their idiosyncrasies, passion for the arts, design, sustainability, conscious consumption and nature. Their modern and sophisticated designs for men and women are the synthesis of their personalities. Amaia, graduated in Mechanical Engineering but her true vocation was the family tradition. During college, she began her formal jewelry training at the family workshop. Due to her immediate success, she launched “Amaia Torrrubia”. In 2009, Yolanda proposed to join forces and launch a Sustainable Designer Fine Jewelry line, TORRUBIA & TORRUBIA. Amaia is currently the Director of the San Sebastián Flagship/Workshop and serves as Designer/Jeweler of the brand. Yolanda received a J.D and Masters of Arts Administration degree in Spain. Her PhD dissertation in arts and law, led her to New York where she graduated from Columbia University Law School with honors as a Burton Fellow Scholar. Upon graduating, Yolanda worked with prominent fashion lawyers and designers. Currently, Yolanda lives in New York serving as the Creative Director of TORRUBIA & TORRUBIA. SUSTAINABLE FINE JEWELRY: Production and Quality. TORRUBIA & TORRUBIA takes pride in producing each design in-house following the traditional craftsmanship of fine jewelry. Each piece is meticulously handmade following the heritage learned as third generation of artisans. Maintaining its own workshop enables TORRUBIA & TORRUBIA to keep 100% control on the sourcing, quality control of the production and accountability of the waste, achieving the highest quality standards and sustainability.
