    Located in Aspen, CO
Antique cufflinks yellow gold with European cut white diamonds weighing totally .40 cts., and bright vivid blue unheated sapphires weighing .45 cts. These distinctive cufflinks are in fine condition, and are just under .75 inches long. They weigh 11.2 grams. The scroll design is very organic in design and the deep hand engraving is superb. Cufflinks are generally worn by men - except in the 19th century when they were also worn by women. For a jeweled decoration, cufflinks have always been a popular accessory. Cufflinks have a fair amount of complexity in terms of criteria for selection. Here are a quick dozen reasons from which men pick 1 or 2 as the reasons for favoring a pair of cufflinks. -overall size, -weight, -type of gemstone -how the cufflink looks against solid color background presented by the cuff, and -the personality offered by the motif of the cufflink -the distance or "throw" of a cufflink...

  • Art Deco Platinum, Diamond and Burma Ruby Brooch/Hair Barrette, c. 1920.
    Located in Aspen, CO
Art Deco platinum, diamond and Burma ruby clip/hair barrette, c. 1920. This is a striking Art Deco statement possessing very fine and unusual fancy cut diamonds and natural unheated Burma rubies This piece can be worn either as a brooch or as a hair barrette. The diamonds are extremely rare and visually exciting to encounter. In the trade these are known as French cut diamonds. They are colorless to near colorless (F/G), and very very slightly included to very slightly included (VVS-VS). The estimated diamond weight is 9.5 cts. The natural unheated Burma rubies are a vivid red color, they are estimated to weigh 3.74 cts. The design of this geometric brooch is superb and contains unusually fine materials set with the highest of craftsmanship; and, visually presents itself as striking and vibrantly vivid. This clip was made so that it could be worn on fabric or in the hair as a barrette. The double stems in the back are slightly curved so that they can both slide through fabric smoothly, and comfortable and easy to wear in the hair. The clip is also slightly curved so that it will hold any thickness of hair or fabric. The two pinstems squeeze together and each fit into its own holder making the barrettes quite comfortable. This outstanding Art Deco piece was purchased with an identical Art Deco, very slightly smaller, brooch/hair clip - a sapphire and diamond matching statement, this piece is signed and numbered by Cartier (included in some of our photographs). This ruby brooch is slightly larger: 1/16th inch longer and 1/8th inch wider. The Cartier, very slightly smaller sapphire brooch measures 1- 7/8th in length, and one half of an inch in width. This diamond and unheated Burma Ruby brooch...
