Nurit & Shoshana Abstract Sterling Modernist Button Earrings

Hand made pair of abstract modernist earrings in sterling silver with gold plate. The dome button style earrings have a sculptural quality with a patinated sterling twist design . Next to the twist is a gold plate area which nicely compliments the textured silver twist with dark ridges. Each earring is 1 inch in diameter and .5 of an in high, not including the clip back. The earrings are made in the lost wax method and are hollow except for wax making them light and comfortable to wear. They are inscribed on the back N. S. Bar-on for the first letter of the daughter Nurit and the mother Shoshana. There is a copyright stamp and 925 for sterling silver. A matching pendant / brooch necklace is shown in last two photos and available in a separate listing.
The artist, Shoshona Bar-On, is a Holocaust survivor from Gyor, Hungary. She is not only a jewelry designer but a sculptor. Shoshana came to Israel in 1949 and settled in Galilee. She works with her daughter, Nurit, who was born after Shoshona's arrival to Israel. For more than 30 years, this mother and daughter team have worked side by side, designing unique works of art with an organic and natural feel. Both are self-taught artists who work and reside in Israel.
