Vintage Napier Book Piece Goldtone "Peach" Moonglow Dangle Clip Earrings, c1964
About the Item
Goldtone and a brown/tan "peach" moonglow resin dangle butterfly clip back earrings. Circa 1964. Marked "Napier." Identical earrings are shown on pg 372 of Melinda L. Lewis & Henry Swen's book "The Napier Co.: Defining 20th Century American Costume Jewelry." Measure: 1.5 inches high by 0.94 inches wide. Condition: Very good; Minor darkening to metal in a few places, only noticeable upon close inspection.
Vintage Napier jewelry was made in Meridan, Connecticut and is very high quality and desirable. In the 1950s, jewelry by Napier was worn by celebrities including Marilyn Monroe, Doris Day, Mamie Eisenhower and Miss America. A necklace sold by Napier in the 1980s or 1990s could cost $100 or more. The plant in Meridan was closed in 2000 and the company sold in 2002, so while the company name still exists, the jewelry is now mass produced.
