Zolotas Large Sculptural Greek Revival Earrings in 18K Gold Diamonds Rubies
About the Item
A statement pair of vintage Zolotas earrings in 18 karat yellow gold and featuring sparkling diamond and ruby accents. These earrings are part of the Heritage collection from Zolotas, a renowned Greek jewelry house founded in Athens in 1895. Zolotas’ most famous designs are inspired by Greek antiquity and one of its chief jewelry designers was a pioneering Greek goldsmith Ilias Lalaounis.
The earrings are highly sculptural and masterfully crafted with great detailing as a pair of coiled chimeras, a mythical creature with a lion’s head. The lion’s heads are accented with vivid red rubies representing eyes and a further row of sparkling white diamonds depicting a collar. The earrings are interchangeable, allowing for versatile wear with lion's head facing either the inner or outer part of the ear and at various angles. They are clip-ons and measure 1.4 by 1.25 inches (3.5 by 3.18 cm). In excellent condition, signed Zolotas, and with additional hallmarks for 18 karat gold.
