Antique 14K Yellow Gold Tassel Earrings and Brooch, Jewelry Set
About the Item
This is an antique early 20th century jewelry set consisting of earrings and a brooch. The gold has beautiful cannetille work set with wire work knots and stars. In the Netherlands, these knots are also-called 'spiders', the body in the center surrounded by its legs. These jewels show an abundant scene of fine cannetille work. The earrings and brooch have a lovely decoration and the borders have scalloped edges. The spiral wire work on the earrings are also know as cornucopia, which means abundance. Underneath the earrings dangling tassels are hung.
This kind of jewelry was worn by women around 1900 in the southern part of The Netherlands, in Brabant. The set is in good condition. Marked and tested as 14k gold. The back of the brooch has a base metal pin and has some small solder spots.
