About the Item
This is a fine example of delicate empire earrings, so called day and night earrings, the tops can be worn alone.
Small gold rosettes, oriental pearls and turqoise cabochons are fashioned to make up these pretty
earrings. The dangling elements are reminiscent of lyres, a favorite design element of the Empire.
The lyre is associated with Apollo, the god of music and light. In ancient Greece the lyra was associatet with poetry.
