The splendid sparkling surface defines the sculptural shape of these distinctive Diamond Leaf Earrings. Crafted in 18K white gold, the mirror image pair is embellished with round brilliant-cut diamonds all over in a pavé setting, weighing a total of approximately 8 carats. The diamonds are of G-H color and SI-I clarity. The edge-to-edge coverage of each dangle earring’s 2.75 x .63 inch (6.99 x 1.60 cm) surface transforms the natural subject matter of leaves to abstracted simplified forms that seem surreal and otherworldly. The earrings are designed for pierced ears with hoops embellished with single lines of round diamonds on the front, suspending each leaf. The leaves are delicately separated by slightly larger single diamonds set with 4 prongs at cardinal points, making each round look diamond-shaped. All details take on great importance in this minimalist composition with a limited palette of diamonds and 18K white gold that references shimmering “white jewelry” of the Edwardian Era (1901-1914). Most of the hexagons are of uniform size, but some are larger, indicating the occasional larger diamond, which might not be discernable from the front. There is azuring in the metal behind the gemstones. Azuring is a technique that adds hours to the fabrication, where shaped cutouts are hand-carved behind each stone, letting light in to add brilliance and amplify the sparkle.
