About the Item
22K Gold Earrings with Heart Motif by Romae Jewelry Inspired by an Ancient Roman Example. Our darling "Octavia" earrings are delicate and sweet, and have a design that is so current! In fact, the pair is modeled after an ancient Roman example, and feature the distinctive and characteristic Roman hook at the back. The design on the front was a very popular motif in Roman art, and while it appears to depict a heart, it was, in fact, a full and beautiful ivy leaf. As one of the attributes of the god Dionysus, ivy was a powerful symbol associated with eternal happiness.
Each piece of Romae jewelry is inspired by an ancient example, and is carefully designed and lovingly crafted in Rome by archaeologist and museum specialist Cris and artist Elena. Our pieces are made to order, and each is individually cast, hand finished and personalized, which allows for freedom of stone choice and special tailoring such as inscriptions and engravings. When shipped, each piece of Romae jewelry arrives with a product card that provides information about the culture, date, and find spot of the original piece of jewelry that inspired our design. Lead time 4 - 5 weeks.
