About the Item
Beautifully unique 5.52 carats of Santa Maria aquamarine drop earrings set in pure brushed 22k yellow gold and accented with .06 carats of round diamonds. The earrings feature large deep blue pear shaped gemstones with a wavy bezel as an ode to the ocean. Diamonds are featured at the top of the hoops. Made in the workshop in Jaipur, India, these earrings can go from day to evening and are one-of-a-kind.
Ancient sailors believed that mermaid tails were made of aquamarine. The gem is considered a lucky stone that brings good fortune and harmony to the wearer. It is said that when the stone is held underwater, it seems to completely disappear.

Ico & the Bird Fine Jewelry
Ico & the Bird Fine Jewelry was founded by designer Juliana Domenico (’Ico’) Carr and inspired by her world travels, searching for the most beautiful and unique gemstones to incorporate into her designs. Gemstones have always been a passion for the designer. She spent the first five years of her life in Brazil, a country known for some of the worlds’ most striking and rare stones, and her earliest memories were of playing with giant, loose aquamarines in her mother’s jewelry box and arranging them into designs. Working primarily in 22k matte gold and hand-picked gemstones, Juliana works with master craftsmen from around the world employing ancient gold smithing techniques in the creation of singular pieces that will be treasured for generations. Juliana holds an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts from The George Washington University. She also holds a Graduate Gemology (GG) degree from The Gemological Institute of America and Graduate Fine Arts from UCLA.
