"Short Spiral" 3.5 Carat Diamond Post Earrings in Yellow Gold
About the Item
A different take on diamond hoops, these lie flat against the ear and feature two rows of bright white diamonds. The hoop shape is torqued a bit so that they "spiral" to the back -- an interesting and sexy modification.
Each hoop is a precisely constructed double line of diamonds.
The outer row has nineteen 0.03 carat diamonds. These are set with prongs holding down each outside-facing edge. The inside-facing edge is set in a tidy notch integrated into the mounting for the inner row of diamonds.
The inner row is slightly elevated and holds 20 stones, each weighing 0.06 carats. These stones are tidily set with three prongs.
The entire effect is very clean and uncluttered.
The diamonds are all earth-mined, natural and untreated brilliant cuts. We rate them G to H color and VS2 to SI1 clarity. The total diamond weight for both earrings is 3.53 carats.
The hoops are just under one inch in diameter.
All metal is 14 karat yellow gold, including the butterfly backs.
The total weight of both earrings, including the backs, is 8.2 grams.
These were custom-made by a Palm Springs jeweler in 1994. Originally, they were clip-ons with center dangles. We modified them by removing the dangles and converting them to posts. They are in excellent condition.
